Day 1 – Would you convert to a different religion if your fiancé/fiancée was of a different faith?

Firstly, marrying someone that’s of a different faith or religion is considered to be taboo in my culture. And I would be putting myself in so much trouble if I even suggested to my family that I would like to marry someone of a different faith. Pretty archaic, I know.

Hypothetically, though, absolutely not. Because, say someone falls in love with me (oh aha) they will be in love with me the way I am, with my every trait and every flaw or whatever. And my religion partly defines who I am. So me changing my religion would be me changing myself. And I don’t really see the point in that at all.

So yeah. I would not. And I wouldn’t expect the person I fall in love with to either.

  1. I married my husband 28 years ago. We are very different in our beliefs but it has not hurt our relationship at all. I hope when my children chose a spouse it is because they are marrying their best friend and are in love.

    1. Thank you for your reply! I am so glad to hear about you and your husband! Ah, I would be so happy to marry a best friend! It must be the greatest feeling on Earth! Hopefully one day my culture begins to become less strict. Ah, I wait for that day eagerly! Congrats once more 🙂 and thank you for reading and replying! Means a lotttt!
